Responsibilities:
Database Maintenance:
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Perform routine database tasks such as backups, restores, and updates.
Performance Tuning:
Monitor database performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with senior DBAs to implement performance tuning strategies.
Security Management:
Ensure the security and integrity of databases by implementing access controls, encryption, and regular security audits.
Contribute to the development and enforcement of database security policies.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Respond to database-related incidents and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.
Work closely with the support team to provide technical assistance to end-users.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators, to ensure the seamless integration of databases with other systems.
Capacity Planning:
Assist in capacity planning and resource optimization to ensure databases meet current and future business requirements.
Upgrades and Patching:
Support the planning and execution of database upgrades and patches.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong understanding of relational database management systems, particularly Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Basic knowledge of database design principles and normalization.
Familiarity with SQL and scripting languages.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Skills:
Certifications in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with database performance tuning.
Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools.
