Our client, a leading energy provider, are seeking a Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) Lead for their Primary Assets Team.
The Primary Assets Team in Transmission and Distribution Engineering (TDE) manages HV equipment from MV to 400 kV, including FACTS equipment. They support the national networks, Engineering and Major Projects, and external energy clients.
The FACTS Specialist Lead, Primary Assets shall act as the technical expert with responsibility for the development, preparation, and implementation of technical specifications for FACTS equipment on the ESB Transmission System. They will work hand in hand with the project delivery team to ensure successful project delivery and compliance with the relevant specification.
The client are seeking a candidate who is available to work as soon as possible on a contract basis for 1 year with an option to extend. This is a remote working position but some contact will be required with the client’s Dublin office.
Responsibilities
Prepare and update FACTS technical specifications, contractor scopes of work, technical and price schedules, and tender enquiry documents.
Assess risks associated with FACTS technical specifications and offered equipment to ensure safety and quality throughout its lifecycle.
Review and evaluate FACTS tender submissions both technically and commercially, and produce evaluation reports with purchase recommendations.
Negotiate with tender participants to secure the best value for the client.
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) as the Client’s technical representative to ensure compliance with requirements.
Conduct site inspections of FACTS equipment during installation and investigate faults, coordinating solutions with OEMs and ESBN Asset Management Services.
Provide overall FACTS technical support and expertise to ESBN, EMP, and stakeholders, ensuring designs and specifications are fit for purpose and compliant.
Requirements
Minimum of eight (8) years post-graduate experience in HV Power and/or HV T&D industry including a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a relevant FACTS technology such as STATCOMS, Series Compensation, Sync Condenser, Dynamic Power Flow Controllers.
Very strong knowledge of FACTS technologies and their implementation.
Good understanding of FACTS technical specifications and how they are comprised.
A proven track record in delivering substation and/or FACTS engineering projects
A good understanding of tendering, tender evaluations, and the tender process.
A good understanding of Engineering, Procurement & Contract (EPC) projects.
