Translation & Interpretation Project Manager – U.S. citizen – Remote

A woman-owned small business in Northern VA is seeking a Translation/Interpretation Project Manager who oversees translation and/or interpretation projects on several of the company’s US government and commercial contracts.
Specifically, the PM will communicate with clients to provide quotes, and identify specific project requirements, then will select appropriate linguists (translators, editors, interpreters, etc.) and track the project from inception through completion.
In the case of translation projects, the PM will manage the translation process with appropriate linguists using proprietary GLS software in tandem Trados and other CAT tools and will complete a full review, including advanced formatting and desktop publishing (DTP) of deliverables where required.
In the case of interpretation projects, the PM will use proprietary GLS software to book and coordinate linguists for events, including constant communication with clients regarding scheduling, equipment, linguists, content, and more, ensuring that the event goes smoothly.
Specific Job-Related Duties:
Provide quotes and respond promptly and effectively to client requests
Manage incoming translation/interpretation projects
Assign translation and editing assignments to linguists and carefully track/monitor the progress of each deliverable through the workflow
Leverage formatting and desktop publishing (DPT) skills to craft effective and professional deliverables
Meet all turnaround times for translation/interpretation assignments
Coordinate with senior project manager on any difficult assignments and alert them to any potential problems in meeting timelines for deliverables
Maintain active and professional communication with clients about ongoing and upcoming projects and events
Appropriately handle confidential documentation to ensure compliance with Privacy laws as it relates to handling of PII, HIPAA and all other regulations, policies, and procedures related to security
Assist with other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of five years working as a project manager for a language services provider
Must be a US Citizen who either holds a Public Trust Clearance or higher
Native-level English skills and high-level proficiency in another modern language, preferably Spanish
Excellent computer and technical skills with the ability to format well in Microsoft Word and other desktop publishing (DTP) tools
Knowledge of CAT tools, particularly Trados
Ability to work well with a team
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a professional translator or interpreter.
Trados certification or PMP certification a plus.
