We have 2 positions open for 3 – 6-month contract position for a Health Information Specialist.
Minimum Requirements: Epic EHR, EMPI Identity Potential duplicate patient matching, reviewing patient demographic errors in the EHR.
Position duties:
Monitors the systems for data quality, efficiency, operation, and data integrity and appropriately escalate issues as they arise. Identifies errors, omissions, and duplications in clinical charts and notifies the proper parties regarding corrections. Assists in system analysis and the development and documentation of new workflow processes and applications. Directs, implements and updates policies, procedures and protocols to streamline workflow, improve efficiency, and strengthen quality assurance. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs chart correction process, identifies errors and notifies downstream system owners of required corrections.
Performs analysis of assigned processes and systems to improve the data integrity of the patients chart
Coordinates merges of medical records across systems and physical charts, ensuring complete accuracyand following all policies and procedures.
Works closely with business and clinical operation teams to obtain or create workflow documentation ofcurrent applications.
Performs general clerical tasks, such as monitoring and updating tickets timely, analyzing or generating reports.
Participates in quality improvement processes when needed.
Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
Performs job responsibilities in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as wellas local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of service
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
1-year recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of patient privacy policies and legislation such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act).
Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Possess outstanding written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences and fellow team members.
Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
Keen problem solving ability; comfortable performing in unforeseen scenarios and quickly changing from one task to another. Effective analytical, problem, and issue resolution experience required.
Advanced knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
