Position Summary
The Chargemaster Analyst is responsible for all revenue for hospital departments to which they are assigned, as well as ensuring compliant billing.
Accountabilities
1. Responsible for research, review, and timely processing of requests from facility departments for new charge codes.
2. Works NCCI edits related to assigned departments.
3. Responsible for reviewing Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer guidelines (if needed) to ensure billing compliance.
4. Educates and oversees charging in delegated departments to identify issues that cause late bills or non-compliant charging.
5. Responds to yearly audit requests from audit companies as needed; assists with other Revenue Integrity projects as needed
6. Prepares yearly updates for CMS changes effective on the first day of every year including education to delegated departments
7. Provides feedback to upper management on issues that affect timely, compliant billing.
8. Acts as a resource to resolve charge questions for other areas in the billing office or clinical departments
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. In some instances, relevant work experience may substitute. Skills: Billing or clinical practice knowledge; Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel.
Years of Experience: 3 years experience in billing or practice
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Nursing Degree
Skills: Epic Experience, Advance Excel Skills, Powerpoint; WebI or other Business Intelligence reporting; CPT coding
Years of Experience: Medical office experience preferred; Chargemaster experience strongly preferred
License:
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in use of CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient departments with an understanding of medical terminology, HCPCS/diagnosis codes, charging, and revenue is preferred
Experience in / knowledge of physician office practice and CPT coding / billing
Problem solver/ self-starter, detail oriented
Would prefer someone with strong financial analytic abilities
Must be able to function both independently and as a team member
Competent with computers and office applications
Strong organization skills and ability to multitask and prioritize on a daily basis
