Milikapiti Health Centre is a remote primary health care facility located on Melville Island in the Tiwi Islands, Northern Territory. The centre provides a range of essential health services, including general primary care, emergency response, and chronic disease management. It serves the Milikapiti community and surrounding areas, with a focus on culturally appropriate care for its predominantly Aboriginal population.
Beds: Milikapiti Health Centre does not have traditional inpatient beds, as it primarily functions as an outpatient and emergency service facility. Patients requiring more complex care are often referred to hospitals in Darwin.
Fun Fact about Milikapiti: Milikapiti is home to the Tiwi Bombers, a famous Australian rules football team that represents the Tiwi Islands in the Northern Territory Football League. Football is a deeply significant part of Tiwi culture, and the sport has helped unify the island’s communities.
