Artisan (Air-conditioning)
Job Description
An Artisan (Air-conditioning) is mainly deployed on repairing and maintaining all types of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment on government vessels. [Remarks: May be required to (i) perform emergency/shift duties and work outdoor in remote areas or during rigorous conditions; (ii) work in Marine Police Forward Bases and on board government vessels; and will be required to wear uniform and protective clothing.]
Requirements
Candidates should: (a) (i) have completed an approved apprenticeship or other approved course of training in air-conditioning;or (ii) have at least four years’ experience in air-conditioning; (b) have valid Certificate of Registration as Electrical Worker for Grade R Electrical Work issued by Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services; (c) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent; (d) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard; (e) be able to pass a trade test at the appropriate level; and (f) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test. Candidates without the requisite qualification as specified in (b) above, but are in the process of obtaining the requisite qualification may also apply. Such applications will be further processed subject to their obtaining of the requisite qualification and submission of supporting documents on or before 31 December 2024.? Note: All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test or have not attained a pass result in the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test during the recruitment process.
Terms of Appointment: A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
Remuneration
Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($19,535 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($23,585 per month)

The required supporting documents are as follows – (a) copies of certificates and documents in support of the academic qualifications (including transcripts showing the results achieved in Chinese and English languages); (b) copies of certificate and documents in support of technical qualification; (c) copies of supporting documents of work experience showing nature of work / position held; (d) a copy of the valid Certificate of Registration as Electrical Worker for Grade R Electrical Work issued by Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services (if any); and (e) a copy of a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (if any). Candidates who are selected for trade test will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for trade test may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
