Are you an accomplished Lodge Manager with a flair for hospitality and a passion for the African wilderness? Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional or management couple to take the helm of an upmarket lodge in Botswana. The ideal candidate/s will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless guest experiences while upholding the lodge’s high standards of service, sustainability, and maintenance.
The role is ideal for individuals who thrive in remote, off-the-grid environments and are skilled in managing both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations. In addition to ensuring guest satisfaction, you will manage staff, oversee maintenance, and drive the lodge’s financial health. Experience in technical maintenance, solar systems, and strong financial acumen are critical for this role. Leadership skills, community engagement, and the ability to inspire a diverse team are also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all lodge operations to ensure high standards in guest service, maintenance, and sustainability.
Manage Front of House and Back of House operations with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Supervise and develop a diverse team, fostering a positive work environment and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Handle financial management, including budget planning, cost control, and revenue management.
Maintain the lodge’s infrastructure with expertise in general maintenance (plumbing, electrical), especially solar systems.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Ensure the lodge operates in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in an upmarket lodge environment, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Operational Expertise: Skilled in Front of House and Back of House operations, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Technical Skills: Strong maintenance knowledge, including plumbing, electrical, and solar power systems.
Financial Acumen: Proven experience in budget management, financial planning, and cost control.
Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with experience in talent development.
Community Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
Remote Environment Experience: Previous experience managing in remote, off-the-grid environments.
Education: Relevant tertiary qualifications in hospitality, business management, or a related field.
Communication: Excellent written and spoken English with strong interpersonal skills.
Personal Attributes: Energetic, emotionally stable, and a confident team player with a passion for excellence.
Citizenship: Preference will be given to Botswana citizens or those with residency status.
