Join our highly visible Security Engineering team
Our team is part of the Akamai’s Security organization. We are responsible for developing products and platforms focused on security. We create Fast Data Planes in an SDN system integrating dynamic Network Application products. We protect customers against growing threats of cyber-attacks and cyberterrorism.

You will support our build and release systems across our globally distributed team. Working cross functionally with Security Engineering, Development, Site Reliability Engineering, Quality Assurance and other teams. You will also implement and support our CI/CD systems and help to support our release deployments. Furthermore, work will also include Security Vulnerability Management.
As a Release Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for:
Supporting the release management lifecycle including scheduling, coordinating, and managing software releases to a globally distributed network
Working closely with cross functional teams, debug compilation issues, manage security vulnerabilities, and adhere to security compliance
Designing and developing tools and processes to help increase safety and agility in the release process
Installing, maintaining, and improving virtual / containerized unix machines used on our networks
Running release meetings to help ensure readiness, compliance and change safety practices
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems or its equivalent.
Have considerable experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash or Groovy
Be skilled with Continuous Integration tools (i.e. Jenkins) and version control software (i.e. Git, Perforce)
Demonstrate expertise in build systems & release train management – planning, communication and coordination
Be a good team player and able to collaborate with people from across the business
Have Deep knowledge of unix systems and DevOps principles
Have experience in unix system administration
Have exposure to kubernetes or similar containerization technology
