Job Description:
Purpose
ICT Specialist 2 assists the ICT Helpdesk and Manager in supporting staff need and installing ICT systems and infrastructure as needed. The role also required to support INFRA/Telecom Engineer in Kabul and travels to field offices when required.
Main Responsibilities:
Functional Responsibilities:
Installs, troubleshoot, repairs, and monitor ICT equipment’s and services in line with ICRC standards and policies.
Local network maintenance and installation including cabling, switches, wireless controller, firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, HF/VHF configuration.
Provides technical support to user, infrastructure systems and services.
Briefs end-users on standard computer systems (hardware, software and telecom)
provides technical advice and assistance with ICT equipment and its use and provides remote support when needed.
Manages inventory and stock by monitoring database(s) and carrying out regular physical checks.
Allocates equipment in an efficient manner, considering users’ needs and ICRC policies.
Keeps track of equipment allocations dispatches equipment and follows up on shipments to and from other ICRC sites.
Install and troubleshoot VSAT/Satcom, Power backup systems, voice/VoIP services, and radio telecom (HF/VHF)
Provide necessary support to colleagues in field to maintain a very good level of ICT and Telecom Support.
Ethernet and WLAN installation and troubleshooting (incl. AP, Bridged, Repeaters)
Monitoring of ISPs WAN for its stability and improvement and handles relations with the internet service provider regarding fees, level of service, etc., in collaboration with the administration.
Keeps technical documentation up to date for all IT installations and troubleshooting.
Takes part in discussions on new information management practices and is involved in projects and/or contributes to the development of new information management tools.
Collaborate with ICT Manager to submit the periodical technical plan and manage technical visits for each structure.
Any other task assigned by mission leadership and/or supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in ICT systems, Radio Telecommunications, or similar related fields.
Vocational training in Information Technology, telecommunication, or similar fields.
At least 4-5 years of experience in previous ICT support position or related fields are required.
Experience in first level support, LAN/WAN, Cyber Security and Cloud computing.
Experience in Telecom; VHF, Repeater interconnection system, SIP, Satellite, Telephony and VSAT Certified Hands-on Specialist will be an asset.
At least 2-3 years’ experience of troubleshooting in ICT Service catalog (e.g., Workplace services, telecommunications, Networking, user support, and related fields).
Good command of spoken and written English.
Good clarity on oral communication both in English and the local languages.
Demonstrated ability to resolve ICT problems both independently and collaboratively.
Good knowledge of country and country terrain.
Experience working in an international humanitarian environment and mixed culture or working with ICRC is an asset.
This position may require the individual to travel to other provinces of Afghanistan for the ICT support and telecom Project implementations.
