Mission and objectives:
UNHCR Algeria’s mission is to protect and support refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless persons throughout Algeria, ensuring their rights, safety, and well-being. Working in close coordination with the government, civil society, and international donors, UNHCR Algeria provides humanitarian assistance, legal aid, and promotes access to essential services, including education, healthcare, and livelihoods. A key focus remains on supporting the Sahrawi refugee population in Tindouf, one of the most protracted refugee situations globally, through the Sahrawi Refugee Response Plan (SRRP).
Context:
UNHCR Algeria is developing a comprehensive and visually cohesive Briefing Binder for presentation to external donors and partners. This binder consists of a series of reports and updates, each requiring high-quality design and layout consistency.
Specific for this task, the designer’s role will be to design the Strategic Brief (6 pages) and the Operational Update (2 pages) while ensuring brand alignment, readability, and easy navigation.

Task description:
Under the guidance of the Information Manager, the volunteer will:
– Design a Strategic Brief Report layout (6-page document) and the Operational Update in a format optimized for both print and digital dissemination.
– Collaborate with the Information Management team to produce a cohesive, visually compelling design that aligns with brand guidelines.
– Develop a consistent visual theme and contribute to designing layout elements that highlight key information.
– Provide the final product in an editable format for future adaptations by the IM Unit.
Requirements:

Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (for integration with internal document standards).

Experience in developing professional-grade reports, briefings, or similar documents.

Ability to work under time constraints and deliver high-quality designs in tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving

Engaged to volunteer and ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
