IT Director – Cloud & AI Platform

POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Director of Cloud & AI Platforms at Signet Jewelers plays a crucial role in overseeing the architecture, development, deployment and management of the Signet Cloud (AWS/Azure) environment, as well as the integration and implementation of AI Platforms & Governance to support business innovation, reusability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will lead a team of cloud engineers and architects, working collaboratively across Solution Delivery, Enterprise Data, InfoSec, Infrastructure, and Business Units to drive the adoption and optimization of Cloud and AI technologies. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the effective operation of our Cloud environments while ensuring adherence to our guiding principles, standards, and compliance frameworks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership

Define and execute the vision for Cloud and AI platforms to align with company goals, ensuring scalability, security, cost optimization, and high availability

Establish best practices, standards, and governance for Cloud and AI initiatives, balancing innovation with regulatory and operational standards

Collaborate with IT leadership to determine strategic opportunities for AI and Cloud technologies within the organization

Cloud Environment Management

Oversee the deployment, management, and optimization of cloud services, focusing on

legacy migration and modernization to serverless and cloud-native platforms within AWS

Develop strategies and re-usable applications for effective CI/CD and IaC pipeline

automation, ensuring audit compliance and the elimination of manual processes

Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives and ensure operational efficiency across cloud

accounts and associated resources

Enable operational support for cloud shared services with a focus on observability and

operational readiness while ensuring adherence to best practices and standards

AI/ML Platform Governance & Collaboration

Direct the design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise AI/ML models, tools, and

platforms across the organization to support data-driven decision-making

Lead the AI Collaboration function to track and report on active AI use cases across the

enterprise while facilitating cross-functional discussions of active AI initiatives

Participate in the AI Governance Council to develop our AI guiding principles and standards

while promoting responsible AI and the intake & evaluation of AI use cases

Vendor Management & Stakeholder Partnership

Manage relationships with key technology partners (e.g., AWS, Azure, Cloud and AI

vendors) to ensure optimal service and access to new technologies

Negotiate contracts and evaluate vendors to optimize cloud and AI costs, quality, and

Support

Lead the Cloud Migration and Modernization Program to reduce our on-premises footprint

and end-of-life risk, while modernizing and optimizing our business applications

Support Customer Success program for Cloud FinOps to drive continuous improvement

and accountability through transparency and visibility

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Informational Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Proven experience in cloud computing with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing Cloud and AI initiatives

Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security, DevOps)

Strong background in AI/ML platforms (e.g., Amazon Q, Bedrock, SageMaker)

Proficiency in data governance and responsible AI practices

Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and growing technical teams, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation

Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence executive leaders and technical teams alike

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Certifications in Solutions Architecture, DevOps, and/or AI

The salary range for this opportunity is $175,000 – $200,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
