Role Purpose
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will be required to organize and supervise administrative and accounting activities for the company for smooth execution of operational functions and support excellent delivery of service to clients.
Requirements
ACCA/BICA/CIMA or accounting degree or equivalent
3-5 years post qualification experience
At least 2 years at supervisory level
Knowledge of accounting software packages at least intermediary level
Insurance or financial services experience an added advantage
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervision of administrative and accounting activities relating to payments to creditors and service providers in line with requirements and accounting standards.
Preparation of the annual financial statements that fully comply with IFRS.
Prepare monthly management accounts, quarterly reporting packs including any supplementary reports.
Prepare detailed portfolio analysis reports on performance per product, branch, business line and recommend actions.
Ensure timely preparation of IFRS 17 reporting packs.
Prepare draft EXCO and Board packs for review by the Finance Manager and provide any other information deemed necessary for the compilation of reports that aide management in decision making.
Assist the Finance Manager with operational and capital budgets.
Prepare monthly financial forecasts by reviewing trends and updating the forecasting tool accordingly with supporting workings filed monthly.
Ensure PAYE and withholding tax returns are timely submitted to the tax authorities in line with regulatory requirements.
Prepare annual income tax computations for review by the Finance Manager.
Prepare regulatory returns such as NBFIRA and ensure timely filing.
Reconciliation of staff pension and provident fund statements for review and submission of schedules to the pension administrators.
Prepare weekly cashflow schedules which details cash needs against available resources and monitors efficient use of cashflows.
Reconciliation of intercompany accounts as part of end of month processes.
Review and check balance sheet reconciliations undertaken by the team for accuracy and ensure clearance of outstanding items.
Review the fixed asset register monthly and ensure appropriate management and allocation of assets, correct calculation of depreciation.
Preparation of provisional journals for accounting period closure for input information for the company financial statements.
Timely and accurate reconciliation of all ledger accounts.
Coordinate and be an audit liaison for both internal and external auditors.
Timely and accurate clearance of all audit findings.
Identifying opportunities for improvement or potential challenges and implement mitigating tactics for the function and give input on related improvements to operations management.
