Job Summary Legal Advisor – Remote (South Africa)
Reports To: Chief IP and Legal Officer
Location: Remote – South Africa
Hire Resolve’s Client are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Legal Advisor to join our legal team and support the Chief IP and Legal Officer. This dynamic role focuses on legal operations, commercial contract negotiation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. You will collaborate closely with internal teams-especially Sales-and contribute to various legal and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including software licensing and data agreements

Provide administrative support and maintain the contract management system

Maintain and enhance contract templates and legal process documentation

Assist with general legal administration and documentation

Support the Chief IP and Legal Officer with litigation, trademarks, employment law, and corporate governance

Help develop and implement legal and compliance policies

Ensure ongoing compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR)

Conduct legal research and monitor relevant legislative/regulatory changes

Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required

Qualifications & Requirements
Education

LLB degree (required)

LLM in Commercial or International Law (advantageous)

Admitted Attorney (preferred but not essential)

Experience

2-5 years’ post-qualification legal experience in a corporate or in-house environment

At least 1-2 years working with international commercial contracts, especially SaaS or software licensing

Skills

Deep understanding of data privacy laws (POPIA, GDPR, etc.)

Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
