We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Modeler to join our Operations Finance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building, maintaining, and enhancing financial models that drive strategic decision-making across the organization. This role requires solid financial acumen, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to interpret complex data to support long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business case development. This role support the Optum California Operation finance team

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and improve complex financial models to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and financial planning

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations and Medex to gather data and validate assumptions

Analyze historical financial performance and forecast future results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities

Support scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate potential business outcomes and their impact on financial performance

Prepare clear and insightful presentations and reports that translate modeling outputs into actionable recommendations for senior management

Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial models by conducting regular audits and updates

Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and financial modeling techniques

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus

3+ years of experience in financial modeling, corporate finance, investment banking, or strategy consulting

Experience with financial software/tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python is an advantage

Proficiency in advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, VBA) and financial modeling techniques

Proven solid analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

Proven excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial information for non-financial stakeholders

Proven to be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy

Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

Tableau and/or related applications such as Power BI experience

Experience with large data set with complex matrix environment

Demonstrated to be self-motivated to work independently and be a team player

Demonstrated to be collaborative and flexible working style, with a solid service mentality

Demonstrated to be mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner

Demonstrated ability to work with others and communicate effectively (both verbal and written)

Demonstrated ability to problem solve including multiple priorities and research conflicting and/or inaccurate data

Adhere to a PST work schedule

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
