One of our companies is currently looking for a Principal Engineer in Asia.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the core of a high-impact, globally distributed engineering team focused on enhancing and evolving PostgreSQL-based technologies. As a Principal Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining both open-source and enterprise-grade variants of PostgreSQL. You’ll contribute to community-driven initiatives, collaborate across teams, support critical production issues, and play a key role in automation and testing. The position is fully remote, and offers a unique balance of deep technical work, mentorship, and open-source contribution.
Accountabilities:
Design, develop, and maintain enhancements to PostgreSQL and proprietary variants
Engage actively with the open-source community by contributing features, reviewing code, and responding to inquiries
Collaborate with global development teams to plan releases and meet delivery timelines
Support the QA team with regression testing, and drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines
Partner with the support team to address customer issues and prepare for product rollouts
Participate in an on-call rotation approximately once every 6-7 weeks
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in database development, with proven expertise in PostgreSQL
Strong programming skills in C, with solid understanding of database internals
Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment
Clear, effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Hands-on experience working with complex database systems
Bonus: scripting experience with Perl or Python, and prior leadership in database development teams
