Job Title: Part-Time Customer Service Representative (Remote)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Assignment Duration: 60 days, with potential for permanent placement based on performance and organizational needs
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
Location: Cleveland, OH (1st week of onsite training)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a part-time Customer Service Representative to support a city’s non-emergency services line. This position is responsible for responding to resident inquiries, delivering accurate information, and providing high-quality customer service in a professional and courteous manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to and process non-emergency requests for municipal services (e.g., pothole reports, trash collection, street maintenance, water issues, snow removal).
Provide clear and accurate information about city services and functions to residents, visitors, and businesses.
Utilize computers, headsets, and customer service software to address issues and investigate service concerns.
Handle billing inquiries, process payments, and update customer accounts, particularly related to utility services.
Initiate and forward service requests to the appropriate departments, and issue reference numbers for tracking.
Update customers on the status of their service requests.
Assist walk-in customers when applicable.
Communicate effectively with individuals, including those with limited English proficiency.
Accurately complete forms, documentation, and customer record updates.
Conduct follow-up communication with customers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
At least two years of full-time paid experience in customer service, billing, collections, or complaint resolution, preferably in a high-volume call center.
Experience in a utility call center is preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage a high volume of calls professionally and efficiently.
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience using customer service databases and systems.
Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage challenging interactions diplomatically.
