VACANCY

Coordinate and facilitate Wikimedia trainings, contests, and community events1.

Collaborate with volunteers, partners, and team members to successfully implement program activities1.

Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure objectives are met1.

Be available to travel to support project implementation1.

Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Wikimedia Botswana team1.

Design and Communication

Design promotional materials (posters, social media graphics, and event flyers)1.

Promote Wikimedia Community User Group Botswana’s activities in English, Setswana, and other relevant languages1.

Support media outreach efforts and help increase project visibility1.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain and update project documentation, project pages, social media platforms, and reports1.

Prepare and submit regular project updates and grant reports in a timely manner1.

Ensure proper documentation, knowledge sharing, and archiving of project materials1.

Finance and Administration

Assist with financial reconciliation1.

Ensure accurate recordkeeping of all project-related expenses1.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of projects, assess impact, and identify areas for improvement1.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in I.T, Social Sciences, or Management1.

Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project management, preferably in the nonprofit, digital, or open knowledge sectors (Experience working within the Wikimedia movement is a plus)1.

Proven track record of building and sustaining online communities1.

Skills and Knowledge

Strong understanding of the Wikimedia Foundation’s goals, policies, and the broader open knowledge ecosystem1.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences1.

Strong organizational and project management skills1.

Proficiency in social media platforms and community management tools (e.g., Discourse, Slack, or similar platforms)1.

Proficient in Setswana and English languages1.

Proficient in Canva or other graphic design tools1.

Passionate about African topics and empowerment through digital inclusion1.

A strong sense of initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently1.

Diplomatic and solution-oriented with strong conflict resolution skills1.

Experience working with volunteer-driven initiatives or within a multicultural and diverse environment1.

Familiarity with other open-source platforms and content management systems1.

Knowledge of African cultures, or regional digital ecosystems is a plus1.

Previous experience in organizing virtual events or webinars1.
