Job Title: Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) Operator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced SPMT Operator to safely and efficiently operate Self-Propelled Modular Transporters for the movement of oversized and heavy loads at industrial sites, ports, construction zones, or offshore projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, maneuvering and controlling SPMT systems as per project specifications and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate SPMT units to transport heavy and oversized equipment and structures on project sites.

Configure SPMT modules based on load dimensions and weight distribution requirements.

Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks to ensure SPMT functionality.

Execute transport movements with precision, using multi-axle steering systems (e.g., crab steering, carousel turns).

Monitor SPMT hydraulic systems, suspension, and power packs during operation.

Coordinate with rigging crews, signalmen, engineers, and supervisors during lift and move operations.

Interpret and follow transport plans, method statements, and lifting diagrams.

Identify and report mechanical or electrical issues with SPMT equipment.

Ensure all operations comply with safety standards, site rules, and environmental regulations.

Maintain operational logs and inspection reports as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: High school diploma or technical/vocational training in heavy equipment or mechanical systems.

Experience:

o Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating SPMTs or similar heavy transport equipment.
o Familiarity with equipment from manufacturing companies such as Goldhofer, Scheuerle, kamag, Enerpac, or Nicolas.

Certifications:

o Valid heavy equipment operator certification (region-specific).
o SPMT operator training certification (preferred but not always mandatory).
Skills Required:

Solid understanding of load balancing, axle configurations, and hydraulic systems.

Ability to read and interpret transport drawings, site plans, and method statements.

Strong focus on safety and risk management.

Manual dexterity, alertness, and excellent spatial awareness.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physically fit for demanding field conditions.

Working Conditions:

Willingness to work on a rotation or shift basis, including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Exposure to outdoor environments, including extreme weather or industrial conditions.

May require travel to project sites domestically or internationally.

Preferred:

Offshore, shipyard, or industrial construction experience.

Experience with remote-control SPMT systems or autonomous operation features.
