Job Description
The Centre for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Services (CERSGIS), based in the University of Ghana, applies geospatial technologies to support sustainable development. We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mobile and Web Application Developer to design, develop and maintain applications that make geospatial data accessible, user-friendly and impactful for decision-making
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain responsive web and mobile applications
Integrate GIS and remote sensing datasets into applications and dashboards
Collaborate with project teams to define user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Ensure applications are secure, scalable and optimized for performance
Support the deployment of applications on cloud and local servers
Documents code, workflows and provide user support and training
Qualification Required & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
At least 3 year of professional experience in web and mobile app development
Strong skills in front-end (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular or Vue) and back-enf (Node,js,Django or similar frameworks)
Experience with mobile frameworks such as React Native, Fluter or lonic
Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, MongoDB).
Knowledge of API development and integration (REST, GraphQL).
Experience with geospatial libraries, web mapping tools (Leaflet, OpenLawyers, Mapbox) or ArcGIS Online is highly desirable
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) is an advantage
Experience in deploying applications in production environments (web servers, play store, App Store)
Strong problem-solving, debugging and version control (Git) skills
