What you’ll do:
Design and develop highly scalable, cloud-native backend services capable of processing and analysing vast datasets using distributed systems architecture.
Support internal teams by providing guidance on architecture design and implementation best practices to maximise the value of the data platform.
Evaluate emerging open-source technologies to address evolving business needs and contribute enhancements back to the community when appropriate.
Collaborate closely with product and application teams to ensure backend systems are reliable, robust, and able to scale efficiently as demand grows.
Develop sophisticated tools and frameworks that offer visibility into system usage patterns, resource planning, and forecasting for optimal performance.
Build large-scale, fault-tolerant data pipelines and analytics systems that drive product intelligence and support critical decision-making processes.

What you bring:
A minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience in software engineering with significant focus on distributed data systems within large-scale environments.
Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Python, Java or Golang with demonstrable ability to write clean, efficient code.
Comprehensive understanding of data structures, algorithms, and techniques for optimising performance in complex systems.
Practical experience working with modern data infrastructure technologies including Kafka, MySQL, Kubernetes, Hadoop, BigQuery or similar platforms.
A proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining reliable systems for ingesting, transforming, and analysing substantial volumes of data.
Commitment to solid development practices such as automated testing frameworks and rigorous code quality measurement protocols.
Excellent communication skills enabling you to explain intricate technical concepts clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required; Master’s degree or equivalent advanced training is strongly preferred.
Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in relevant communities are highly regarded.
