This position performs business functions for the growing Optum Care northeast regional team segment of UnitedHealth Group. Specifically, this role supports accounting functions for the New York Market.
If you are located in Eden Prairie, MN, you will have the flexibility to work remotely*, as well as work in the office as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintains general ledger accounts and related activities to produce financial statements and reports
Supervise team of 1-2 individuals, including work schedules and tasks, evaluations, and reviews
Performs monthly account reconciliations and analyses, prepares monthly journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Reviews monthly account reconciliations and monthly journal entries prepared during month-end close process
Analyzes and prepares financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
Involved in the monthly/quarterly close process providing support as required with journal entries, ad-hoc reporting, and analytics
Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits
Supports annual audit of regulated entity
Coordinates, supervises and is accountable for the daily business support of Optum managed entities
Will be responsible for managing simultaneous ad-hoc projects

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field
6+ years of accounting experience
Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups)
Familiarity in working with large data sets
Proven solid communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or MBA
Month-end close experience
Account reconciliations experience
PeopleSoft, Hyperion experience
Financial statement preparation
Customer support experience
Public accounting experience
Management experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
