Positive Action for Development (PAD) is one of the most vibrant and rapidly expanding Ethiopian resident civil society organizations. We are a results-oriented organization committed to implementing efficient, effective, and sustainable charitable interventions across Ethiopia.
Currently, PAD is undertaking a major scale-up of its programs, with a focus on urban destitution, peacebuilding and democratization, child protection, youth development, support for migrant returnees, health, and livelihood development. We are also implementing humanitarian projects, including Shelter and Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), targeting low-income and vulnerable women, children, youth, and adults.
As part of this expansion, PAD is extending its operations to several regions, including Addis Ababa, Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Harari, and the Somali, South Regional State.
PAD is now seeking to hire a qualified professional for its EHF-funded project.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the CMAM Officer will support the delivery of integrated health and nutrition services in hard-to-reach areas as part of the EHF-funded project Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT). The nurse will play a key role in the implementation of essential primary healthcare services, including psychosocial support in collaboration with other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care as part of MHNT service delivery, including triage, basic treatment, wound care, IMCI, ANC, PNC, and immunizations.
Support mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions in collaboration with the MHPSS Officer or focal point.
Conduct mental health screenings, assist in basic counseling, and refer cases to higher-level facilities when needed.
Administer prescribed medications and support psychiatric treatment follow-up as per protocols.
Assist in the provision of PFA (Psychological First Aid) and psychoeducation to individuals and families.
Provide health education and awareness on mental health, GBV, and other relevant issues during outreach and service delivery.
Collaborate with other MHNT members to ensure integrated and comprehensive services.
Document and report on health and MHPSS activities, using standardized tools and formats.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure ethical service delivery.
Support community health workers and volunteers in outreach, referral, and awareness activities.
Contribute to the identification of cases needing specialized mental health or protection services and support appropriate referrals.
Participate in capacity-building activities, including on-the-job coaching and training sessions.
Support the team in mapping referral services, especially for mental health, GBV, and maternal health.
Assist in early recovery planning and service continuity for affected communities after displacement or emergencies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth MHNT operations.
About You
Qualification: BSc Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution with a Valid professional license from the relevant health regulatory authority.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience in primary health care, maternal and child health, and nutrition services.
Prior experience working in MHNTs or outreach programs in hard-to-reach or emergency settings is highly desirable.
Experience in malnutrition screening, treatment (OTP/TSFP), and referral systems.
Skills Required:
Clinical Nursing Skills
Skilled in primary health care, outpatient consultation, maternal and child health (ANC, PNC, delivery assistance), and treatment of common illnesses.
Competent in Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMNCI), ICCM, and management of uncomplicated delivery cases.
Nutrition Screening & Treatment
Skilled in Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement, weight/height assessment, and oedema checking.
Ability to provide treatment for uncomplicated malnutrition (OTP), refer complicated SAM cases, and counsel caregivers on IYCF practices.
Health Education & Counseling
Ability to deliver health messages on hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, and disease prevention to individuals and groups.
Good interpersonal and counseling skills for working with caregivers, pregnant women, and community members.
Emergency Response & Outreach Service Delivery
Experience in delivering health and nutrition services in mobile or outreach settings.
Ability to work in high-stress, low-resource, or conflict-affected environments.
Documentation and Reporting
Basic skills in patient registration, medical record-keeping, and completion of HMIS or MHNT reports.
Familiarity with mobile data collection tools or paper-based tally sheets.
Teamwork and Coordination
Strong team spirit and ability to work collaboratively with MHNT members, health facility staff, and community structures.
Coordination with health bureaus and local leaders to ensure smooth service delivery.
Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptability
Respect for local customs and culture.
Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing field conditions.
Other:
Willingness to travel to and work in remote and hard-to-reach locations.
Ability to work effectively in a mobile team setting with flexibility and cultural sensitivity.

Salary: As per the organization’s Salary Scale
Duty Station: Roving position between Gazgibla and Abergele Woredas, Waghimra Zone, Amhara Region. The MHNT Nurse is expected to operate as part of a Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT), regularly moving between health facilities and communities in both woredas based on program needs and accessibility.
