About the role
We are looking for a seasoned financial services regulatory lawyer to join the Peerpoint panel. If you have experience in one or more of the areas listed below, and are well-organised, conscientious and detail-oriented, then we would love to hear from you.

Advising businesses across the full spectrum of financial services, including investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, private banks, insurers, exchanges and trading platforms

Experienced with a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, with a particular focus on the cross border offer and marketing of investment products and services, licensing of businesses and products, securities trading, asset custody, conduct of business requirements and data privacy

Supporting financial institutions involved in transactions involving regulated businesses, for example, advising on required consents and notifications triggered through acquisition, disposal and restructuring

Successful applicants will have:

A right to work and reside in Hong Kong

Qualified to practice in at least one of the following jurisdictions: England & Wales, United States, Hong Kong, Singapore or Australia

A minimum of four years’ post-qualification experience at a top tier law firm in this field

Strong technical knowledge and experience, ideally with some Asian experience

In-house legal experience at leading financial services institutions/corporates preferred (directly or as a secondee)

Self-starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultant

Adept at leading or working within complex multi-functional, multi-national project environments

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally

Strong commercial/business acumen

Resilient, adaptable, autonomous and highly organised

In-house with one of our clients – one assignment could be stepping into a team to support a project, while another a senior manager role tackling regulatory change. Assignments can range from two to twelve months in duration and are usually worked four days’ per week.

In the A&O Shearman practice on an ad-hoc basis, supporting teams when needed or joining them for fixed periods to work on a deal.

We only take you on when we see a demand for your particular expertise, making sure there is a good chance we can provide you with work on an on-going basis. We cannot guarantee work but we are every bit as invested in moving your career forward as you are.
