Our team is part of the Akamai’s Security organization. We are responsible for developing products and platforms focused on security. We create Fast Data Planes in an SDN system integrating dynamic Network Application products. We protect customers against growing threats of cyber-attacks and cyberterrorism.

You will analyze, design, implement and operate mission-critical database services. You’ll be using Cassandra, mySQL, redis, and mongo db among other technologies. You’ll help extend technical capabilities and look for new ways to innovate and redefine our database services. You will also be shaping our roadmap for the future.
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for:
Supporting day-to-day operations with large-scale, highly available, reliable, high-performing databases hosted in distributed datacenters
Analyzing and improving the existing database architecture
Being a liaison for database-related problems between operations, architecture, development, and QA groups
Managing orchestration and configuration of Infrastructure
Solving issues with linux systems and cloud infrastructure
Creating and maintaining documentation that is relevant to your role and duties
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Have substantial DBA experience with deployment, configuration, management, and support of highly available systems
Show proficiency in all aspects of database administration including install, setup, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, replication and proactive monitoring
Have experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, Redis and data modeling
Have experience working on installation, configuration, capacity management, administration of various NoSQL and RDBMS databases
Have experience with Linux system administration as needed for DBA
Be familiar with scripting languages such as Python or shell
Be familiar with CI/CD, Docker & Version Control Systems such as Git and Perforce
