The Director, Global Governance and Administration is a key member of UnitedHealth Group’s (UHG) Corporate Security team. The Corporate Security organization is responsible for the Enterprise Workplace Security Program that facilitates the protection of the company’s global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Director, Global Governance and Administration, will report to the Vice President, Chief Corporate Security Officer.
The Director, Global Governance and Administration, will be responsible for standing up and institutionalizing a new enterprise-wide program that will act as a foundational part of the recently established Global Risk Management Center of Excellence (CoE) within Corporate Security. This program will help operationalize the CoE within the larger Corporate Security department and enable the provision of sustainable, scalable, and systematic security services by our global security teams through governance, process, compliance, and assurance support. This program will also be responsible for the execution of the global workforce training and awareness strategy, as well as a number of administrative functions including data management and driving deliverables intended to empower the Corporate Security department’s success.

This new function/leader will work in partnership across all Corporate Security programs and with multiple global corporate/business stakeholders to:

Establish and direct a comprehensive center for global/enterprise policies, standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including creation and implementation, within Corporate Security

Drive the execution of operational strategies in governance processes, methodologies, and efficiencies, introducing new systems to support and enhance the quality of Corporate Security programs and services

Align internal and external compliance and adherence to corporate security policies and standards globally

Oversee and operationalize compliance initiatives to meet applicable global and U.S. regulations and legal requirements within the department and organization

Direct and ensure alignment of Corporate Security programs and services with global industry standards and best practices, maintaining consistent application and integration

Lead, develop and drive global training and awareness strategies by developing and deploying comprehensive security learning content in collaboration with subject matter experts, supporting instructor-led training by Corporate Security personnel worldwide, and enhancing awareness of Corporate Security services, resources, and content across the workforce using a variety of channels and modalities globally. This role will supervise and manage the global training and awareness team

Oversee vendor management including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), contracts, and invoices, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met in collaboration with program owners, and act as the key interlocutor with Procurement

Collaborate with global teams to customize policies, standards, and SOPs to local business/cultural environments and regional business unit requirements

Standardize and lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new policies, procedures, and systems, minimizing disruption and maximizing engagement across the organization

Measure and demonstrate ROI on global compliance initiatives by establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, ensuring that security investments deliver tangible value and meet organizational goals

Communicate and report key security metrics, compliance status, and strategic initiatives to senior management, providing clear and actionable insights to inform decision-making

Manage Security training vendor relationships to ensure service levels are consistently met

Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring comprehensive support for Corporate Security initiatives

This role requires a creative self-starter who has experience in building global/enterprise security/incident management programs in a matrixed organization, writing policies/standards/procedures, process/quality improvement, solutioning complex problems, and managing teams. Experience with compliance/audit processes and employee training development is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to build strong and trusting partnerships with a variety of stakeholders with a global organization is required. This role requires up to 15% travel.

Required Experience:

7+ years of experience building or managing global or strategic programs in the security, intelligence, investigations, and/or crisis management field (private or public sector), or equivalent

Experience directly managing teams

Direct experience writing security or related policies, standards, and procedures

Competency in the Microsoft Office suite of products

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of global and U.S. regulations with regards to physical security

Knowledge of global industry standards in the security field

Experience with developing compliance/audit and quality assurance processes

Experience developing training content for employees

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to provide verbal briefs and develop/deliver PowerPoint presentations

Superior analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills and superior attention to detail

Ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment

Flexibility and agility; ability to take direction and feedback and think creatively about solutions to complex problems

Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse identities, cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
