CHA Background:
Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) is a non-governmental, non-profitable, and non-political Afghan NGO, working since 1987 mainly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure sectors in more vulnerable areas of the country. CHA is working through the implementation of Emergency, rehabilitation, and development projects for emergency aid for war, famine, and natural disaster-affected families in the field, to assist with the rehabilitation of rural and urban life, and to work with communities for sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement crop management plans tailored to the specific needs and conditions of the district.

Conduct field trials and demonstrations to showcase best practices in crop production.

Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and field days for local farmers on crop management, pest control, and soil health.

Provide one-on-one extension services to farmers, offering advice and support on crop-related issues.

Regularly monitor crop conditions, pest infestations, and disease outbreaks.

Prepare and submit regular reports on crop performance and project impact.

Work closely with local government officials, agricultural organizations, and NGOs to coordinate crop-related activities and initiatives.

Foster strong relationships with farmer groups, cooperatives, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.

Oversee the distribution of agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilizers to farmers.

Ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and in accordance with project guidelines.

Stay updated on the latest research and developments in crop science and agriculture.

Maintain accurate records of all activities, including training sessions, field visits, and farmer interactions.

Prepare detailed reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations for future actions.

Engage with local communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices and the benefits of improved crop management.

Address community concerns and incorporate their feedback into crop management strategies.

Build the capacity of local agricultural extension workers and other relevant personnel to support crop-related initiatives.

Mentor and guide junior staff and interns involved in agricultural projects.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in crop management, agricultural extension, or a related field.
Skills:

Strong knowledge of crop production techniques and sustainable agricultural practices.

Excellent communication and training skills.

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Languages: Proficiency in local languages (Dari/Pashto) and good command of English.
Personal Attributes:

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work in challenging and remote environments.

Commitment to improving the livelihoods of local farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture.
