CHA Background:
Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) is a non-governmental, non-profitable, and non-political Afghan NGO, working since 1987 mainly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure sectors in more vulnerable areas of the country. CHA is working through the implementation of Emergency, rehabilitation, and development projects for emergency aid for war, famine, and natural disaster-affected families in the field, to assist with the rehabilitation of rural and urban life, and to work with communities for sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate with the local authorities and community leaders in the target district of Ghor Province to ensure seamless implementation of the project activities.

Oversee the distribution of quality livestock inputs, including small ruminants, and animal feed feeders, to the identified beneficiaries.

Monitor the utilization and impact of the distributed livestock inputs to ensure they are used effectively by the local farmers and herders.

Provide technical guidance and support to the beneficiaries on the proper care and management of the livestock inputs.

Collect and analyze data on the project’s outcomes, such as increase in livestock productivity, income generation, and household food security.

Regularly report on the progress, challenges, and recommendations to the project management team.

Conduct a detailed assessment of the current livestock rearing practices and challenges faced by the local communities in the target districts.

Develop a comprehensive distribution plan for the livestock inputs, ensuring equitable and timely access for the selected beneficiaries.

Design and implement a capacity-building program to train the beneficiaries on improved livestock management techniques.

Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track the project’s impact on the local communities.

Mentor and guide junior staff and interns involved in the projects.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Education: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Livestock Management, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in livestock management, veterinary services, or related field.
Skills:

Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, veterinary practices, and sustainable livestock management.

Excellent communication and training skills.

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Languages: Proficiency in local languages (Dari/Pashto) and good command of English.
Personal Attributes:

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work in challenging and remote environments.

Commitment to improving the livelihoods of local livestock owners and promoting sustainable livestock management.
