What this role is responsible for
Former Admissions Officer Reviewers (“FAORs”) are exemplars of Crimson Education’s philosophy; individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in students’ lives by leveraging past admissions experience to help offer guidance that will inform academic, extracurricular, and personal development.
Your task as a Crimson Former Admissions Officer Reviewer (FAOR) is to complete written “FAO Reviews” to be shared with students and their Crimson teams.
FAO Reviews help students improve their applications by providing feedback on academic performance and extracurricular engagement, as well as the thematic direction and narrative execution of application essays. All FAOR work will be completed between September and January of each year.
Crimson students will have existing support from Application Mentors who own the responsibilities of essay consultation. Thus, FAOR feedback will be delivered anonymously. FAORs have no face-to-face interaction with students.
What success looks like
Success in the FAOR role is simply defined: consistent delivery of useful FAO Reviews within the agreed upon turnaround time. A useful FAO Review is one that:
(a) provides an assessment of how the student’s academics and extracurriculars may be viewed in the context of a specific university’s applicant pool.
(b) evaluates the student’s essays for theme, narrative, and quality of writing-and shares general impressions of how an admissions officer may receive them.
(c) offers constructive feedback on both (a) and (b), with sensitivity to the scope of the revisions recommended and approaching application deadlines.
The typically agreed-upon turnaround time for an FAO Review is four to seven days, dependent on case and market demands. Sooner is almost always better. Each FAO Review takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Each FAOR will be expected to complete a minimum of 20 to 25 reviews, dependent on case and market demands, between September and January, with peak engagement during October.
How you’ll know you’re crushing it
+ You’ll know you’re crushing it when you complete your reviews on time.
+ You’ll know you’re crushing it when other members of the student’s Crimson team praise your reviews’ useful perspective and feedback.
You just might be the person we’re looking for if you have:

Bachelor’s degree from a US and/or UK university; advanced degrees welcome

2+ years of experience working in an admissions office at a Top 50 US university, with experience in recruitment, outreach, and application review

Superior written and oral communication skills

Unfailing ability to meet deadlines.

Resilience when working independently under pressure
