Job Title: HB Coding Analyst (Remote – Select States)

Compensation: $60,000 to $88,000 (based on experience)

A leading academic health system is seeking an experienced HB Coding Analyst with strong inpatient and outpatient coding skills to join their high-performing team. This fully remote position supports coding operations for a nationally ranked flagship hospital and multiple affiliated facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and E/M codes for outpatient and physician encounters
Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient edit failures
Conduct DRG downgrade reviews and draft payer appeals
Collaborate across departments to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
Analyze and trend coding and denial data to improve performance
Present findings and lead staff education sessions
Must-Haves:
5+ years’ inpatient coding experience in academic/Level I trauma centers
Experience with DRG appeals and highly complex chart reviews (e.g., trauma, spinal fusion, sepsis)
Familiarity with EPIC and 3M
RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or COC certification
Membership in AHIMA or AAPC
Preferred:
Strong data analysis skills in Excel/PowerPoint
Experience with Epic CAC workflows and service ticket systems
Project management or education/training background

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, flexible daytime hours. Minimal to no travel required.
