THE ROLE
Avantia Law specialises in providing cutting-edge legal compliance solutions. We aim to empower our clients by identifying potential risks early on, thereby enabling informed deal decision-making and efficient due diligence processes.
We are seeking an Investment Compliance Analyst with a legal background (either a qualified lawyer or an experienced inhouse legal specialist) to join our dynamic team. This new role will be pivotal in enhancing our compliance & KYC service, ensuring rigorous compliance with regulatory standards and providing comprehensive deal risk assessments across various domains including sanctions, financial crime, ESG, and adverse media.

Joining our industry leading Investment Compliance practice, you will be responsible for:
Conducting comprehensive screening and performing in-depth checks on businesses and individuals against global databases. This includes (but not limited to) searching for sanctions hits & watchlists, PEP, adverse media and ESG.
Applying your legal expertise to interpret screening results, assess regulatory compliance, and identify potential risks and red flags.
Produce clear and concise risk summaries and scorecards, highlighting key findings and recommendations for further action.
Being the point of contact for client queries, managing their compliance processes end to end and to deadlines.
Working with other Avantia lawyers and analysts, reviewing the work of more junior team members and assisting with training when required.

Requirements
Legal background: either a qualified lawyer or inhouse legal compliance specialist
2+ years experience in a KYC/ AML/ Risk/ Compliance team/ practice. Lawyers from a broader corporate or transactional practice with an interest in deal compliance are also encouraged to apply
Experience representing asset management, investment banking or other FS clients highly desirable
Ability to analyse complex data and information to identify potential risks and provide actionable recommendations
Strong commercial awareness with a solutions-first approach and strong attention to detail
Happy working to strict turnaround times and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively
