Job Description
This 1-year contract for a L3 Network Managed Services Engineer is a great opportunity to build on your CISCO tech stack, as well as a range of technologies such as Juniper, Palo Alto, and Fortinet with a multinational telecommunications company.
This role is remote, and open to South African citizens, based in South Africa and offers up to R300 per hour. 1-YEAR CONTRACT.

The Role:
As a Senior Network Managed Services Engineer (L3) you’ll join a dynamic team. This is a key role that involves managing and supporting critical network infrastructure for clients, ensuring high availability and performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
You’ll require the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities, strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive mindset. Furthermore, excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse clients and stakeholders, a team player who enjoys mentoring and guiding junior engineers, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances while delivering top-tier service.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, install, and maintain network infrastructure at client sites to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Proactively identify and resolve technical incidents before they impact service, using monitoring tools and best practices.
Investigate and troubleshoot high-complexity third-line support issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
Manage support tickets, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Provide technical expertise and escalate issues to third-party vendors as necessary.
Deliver onsite support and field engineering services to clients, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Conduct regular reviews of incidents and service requests, providing recommendations for improvements in quality and efficiency.
Proactively identify opportunities for work optimization, including automation.
Contribute to or manage network-related projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and timelines.
Support disaster recovery functions and conduct routine tests as needed.
Collaborate with and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computing or equivalent experience.
Industry certifications such as CCNP or equivalent are essential.
Proven experience in managed services within medium to large IT environments.
Strong working knowledge of ITIL processes and service management.
Proficiency in network technologies, including but not limited to:
o Pulse Secure SSL VPN, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet Firewalls
o Cisco Nexus switches, ASR and ISR routers, Cisco ACS, ISE, Meraki
o Common routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
o Network address translation, uplink configurations to ISPs (DIA, MPLS, P2P circuits)
o Familiarity with network management tools like SecureCRT, LogicMonitor.
