Primary Responsibilities:
Partner with Engineering, Business and Technical Product to make and meet project commitments in an agile framework; rapidly delivering value to our customers via technology solutions
Mentor engineers to successfully deliver software and business value
Accountable for teams’ adoption of Optum engineering culture
Continuous improvement for alerts, monitors and telemetry
Accountable for teams who design and develop resilient, reliable, scalable and self-healing solutions to meet and exceed customer requirements
Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms, and be able to present and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, scalability and maintainability guidelines
Set automation standards and implement tooling to support/report adherence
Identify initiatives from application and customer telemetry that result in customer metric improvement and drive adoption on team
Actively mentor team members through code reviews, brown bags, tech talks, design reviews
Demonstrate leadership in the context of software engineering and be an evangelist for engineering best practices
Stay abreast of leading-edge technologies in the industry evaluating emerging software technologies
Set and hold team accountable to stability and resiliency metrics
Design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software
Create reusable components, patterns, tools and promote use by members of the team
Understand security threats and patterns and ensure adherence to all regulatory initiatives, HIPPA, PHI, PII, locational data restrictions, contractual, etc.

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or 7+ years of equivalent experience in software engineering and processes: design patterns, algorithms, data structures, schemas and queries, system design, unit testing, code reviews, agile and dev-ops, as well as industry patterns for application architecture and integration
7+ years of experience working with teams that leveraged three or more of the following: continuous integration / continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public / private cloud, web applications, web services, application observability and/or messaging/ stream architecture
7+ years of coding experience with one or more of the follow languages Java, C#, C/C++, Go, Python or JavaScript with a willingness and ability to learn new ones * 7+ years Database design especially using MSSQL Server or any other relational database, with solid SQL language skills
2+ years of production experience with cloud and big data technologies
2+ years of agile development experience; solid understanding of DevOps mindset
2+ years of production operational support
2+ years writing unit or integration tests
Preferred Qualifications:
Instrumenting apps with Azure Monitor, Azure App Insights, AWS CloudWatch, and creating effective alarms and dashboards
Log indexing tools (e.g. ELK stack, Datadog, Splunk, Sumologic)
SRE principles (error budgets, alarming practices, etc.)
Development experience in .NET CORE, Snowflake, S3 buckets, Azure App Services, Docker, Cloud, Kubernetes, React, Message Queues
Experience with technologies such as: HTML/JavaScript, TestCafe, NodeJS, Git, JEST or SOA
Experience with Snowflake, Synapse
IT full-stack engineering experience
Healthcare domain background

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
