Manager Accounting, Accounting & Finance is a key player across many areas within the accounting and reporting functions for Care Transition/naviHealth, a part of Optum Home & Community. This position will primarily be responsible for assisting in the management of and participation in revenue related processes in compliance with general and technical accounting practices in accordance with industry, government and company rules and regulations. This role will also be responsible for overseeing and continually improving the process(es) for collecting, verifying, analyzing, and reporting information. As a member of the Revenue Accounting team, this position will interact and collaborate cross-departmentally throughout the entire organization, including senior company leadership and internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage in collaboration with the other Manager, the Associate Director and other company leaders, the Health Plan revenue process, and other lines of business as necessary, including, but not limited to:

Partner with various internal and external parties related to revenue recognition and related sales invoicing

Develop key relationships with revenue stakeholders to understand monthly trends

Review and gain a business understanding of contracts to ensure proper reporting in accordance with GAAP, tax, and other reporting agencies

Participate in close process each month, working as necessary during this period for successful completion of reporting to company leaders

Coordinate and prepare revenue related journal entries, including appropriate support

Prepare and effectively communicate verbally or in writing variance. trend and other analyses supporting the accuracy of the financial statements, forecasts, and other financial reporting as needed

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly operational related reports

Create standardized reports within Intacct and/or PeopleSoft, the company’s accounting system, for use by the entire accounting and finance organization, maintaining these reports over time as new accounts, departments, and other system changes take place

Assist in identifying and support implementation of opportunities to automate processes using AI, Power BI or other tools available to streamline the team’s processes for efficiency and accuracy

Assist with monthly, quarterly, annual, and/or other periodic internal control and audit reporting or analysis as needed to meet internal and external audit requirements

Assist with annual customer performance period reconciliations by partnering with internal departments and customers, as needed

Identify and make recommendations for process and workflow improvements related to the accounting financial close and account reconciliations to drive timeliness, accuracy, and efficiencies

Assist with and oversee special projects, as required

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree – Accounting; equivalent experience may be considered

3+ years of relevant experience in an accounting role

Experience working with large data sets and financial models

Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Pivot tables, VLookups, IF statements, etc.)

Proven solid communication and organizational skills

Proven self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task, prioritize deadlines/duties and operate with a high degree of autonomy

If remote, willing or ability to work a CST time zone work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree and/or CPA certification

Experience in public accounting and/or healthcare industry

Experience with Intacct, PeopleSoft, Hyperion Essbase, Power BI

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
