Overview
This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.
This position is responsible and accountable for the management of Business Unit (BU) risk activities, in adherence with the Company’s Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy. The position serves as an effective communication channel between the Risk Management Department and FCB business units. Promotes an environment of risk awareness and risk ownership across the organization. Maintains collaborative partnerships with senior management across lines of business, internal departments, Risk Management program leaders, peer First Line Risk Managers, and other stakeholders to enhance BU risk management capabilities. Manages the recruitment, training, and development process for staff.

Responsibilities

Risk Activities – Ensures appropriate and effective collaboration between BU and Risk Management department. Provides BU risk considerations for business/strategic plans. Manages timely identification and escalation of risks and issues and consults with BU management surrounding key risk management issues, ensuring bank and regulatory alignment.

Risk Reporting – Provides direction, oversight, and management to all aspects of BU related regulatory exams, reviews, and continuous monitoring activities, ensuring complex internal information from multiple business partners flows effectively and efficiently to primary regulators. Supports response and tracking of supervisory issues.

Risk Governance – Participates in relevant risk governance group meetings utilizing strong understanding of the BU operations, risks, controls and related laws and regulatory guidance. Provides feedback and coordinates on relevant governance documents to support BU activities and manage risk. Implements program policies, standards, and procedures.

Managerial Functions – Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes recommendations on appropriate changes to team policies, procedures, and efficiencies to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development. Participates in mandatory risk training and educates BU personnel on key risk programs and topics.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, Audit, or Compliance OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, Audit, or Compliance
Preferred Education: Advanced Degree
Preferred Area of Experience: Financial Services, Project Management or Consulting (internal or external)
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of financial sector regulatory practices for a large financial institution

Ability to effectively communicate regulatory information to technical, management, regulators, and executive audiences

Knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management including identification, assessment, and escalation of risk issues,

Ability to track and coordinate large, complex processes ,

Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise and operational risk as well as risk control frameworks,

PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel, and strong PowerPoint skills

If hired in North Carolina the base pay for this position is generally between $106,304 and $163,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
