Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Operations Assistant for a mission-driven consulting firm that supports community-based organizations and systems change initiatives. This is a contract, fully remote position based anywhere in the U.S., with working hours overlapping 8am-6pm Eastern Standard Time. Candidates located in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, New York, and Connecticut will be considered.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Operations Assistant who excels at providing administrative and operational support within a collaborative, values-driven organization. This role will support the daily functioning of Human Resources and Finance processes, working in coordination with internal staff and external partners. Ideal candidates are highly organized, enjoy creating structure, and are motivated to contribute to equitable and sustainable operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help to develop and maintain systems for hiring, performance management, onboarding, and benefits administration
Support data entry, documentation, and process tracking for HR and Finance systems
Assist in coordinating hiring, onboarding, and employee support activities
Coordinate the collection and organization of time tracking, expense reports, and invoices
Help maintain and implement internal tools and platforms used for operational workflows (e.g. ATS, performance management systems)
Assist in ensuring accurate vendor records, contracts, and compliance documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience in an administrative, operations, or HR support role
Proven experience with project management, particularly within nonprofit and mission-driven environments
Experience with collaborative online tools (e.g., Google Workspace, project tracking platforms)
Comfortable using spreadsheets and maintaining organized documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
Willingness to learn new systems and take initiative in completing assignments
Commitment to equity and inclusion, with the ability to contribute to a supportive team culture
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a contract-based position offering an hourly rate of $28-$30/hour. The position is remote, and benefits include health, dental, vision, and additional perks after 30 days of employment.
