Oncology Abstractor-Remote
Job description
Responsibilities:
Review pathology reports, disease indices, and suspense lists in Meditech.
Identify, consolidate, and accurately abstract appropriate cancer cases into Metriq.
Ensure compliance and control risk within the payroll function including month-end reconciliations or super annuations.
· Extract relevant oncology data from medical records following the standards established by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and the relevant State Central Cancer Registry
Ensure assigned cases are abstracted within six months of patient contact to comply with ACOS standards.
Perform edit checks and make necessary corrections promptly to maintain data accuracy.
Follow ACOS and state data standards and coding instructions to abstract all reportable cases
Qualification:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
3-5 years of experience in Cancer Data Abstraction or Medical Records preferred (certified associates will also be considered).
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification required.
Strong attention to detail and proficiency with medical data systems (e.g., Meditech, Metriq).
Familiarity with compliance standards from ACOS and State Central Cancer Registries.
Excellent communication and data management skill
