Job Title: Production Journalist – Mediahuis Ireland Regionals Location: Can be remote within Ireland
Contract: Temporary Contract. Part Time – 3 days per week Reporting to: Group Editor
Role Purpose
The role of the Production Journalist is to operate as part of the production team on Mediahuis Ireland regional newspaper titles, working in collaboration with the editors and editorial teams, and liaising with the press sites, and the circulation and advertising departments. The role includes editing, print page make-up and online publication.
The successful applicant will be a good communicator and team player, with excellent time management skills. They will also have good copy editing and writing skills, and strong technical ability across a number of disciplines to meet the demands of the system.
Role Responsibilities (Overview)
Helping manage the production workflow to ensure smooth print operation and the meeting of deadlines
Editioning and sending pages
Page make-up and design
Work across multiple titles and platforms
Edit the content and write headlines to a very high standard ensuring that all material published meets the legal and quality standards set out
Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)
Must have high level of proficiency with P-Series Atex system (following familiarization and training)
Experience in editing and writing
Must have a strong understanding of the Digital & Print Media content
Skills
Good working knowledge of Adobe Indesign and Photoshop
Excellent computer skills
Good editing and writing abilities
Ability to work with multiple applications simultaneously
Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure in a performance driver environment.
Tenacity with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Must exhibit learning agility and adaptability particularly in regard to the technical aspects of the role.
Ability to make decisions in line with company policy on own initiative.
Strong collaboration and cross functional working together.
