Position Overview
We are looking for a QA Lead with extensive expertise in accessibility compliance (Section 508c) for both web and mobile platforms. This is a leadership role, requiring someone who can guide QA efforts, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high accessibility standards across multiple digital products.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, track, and resolve accessibility issues while maintaining key documentation such as VPATs. A deep understanding of accessibility standards, hands-on testing skills, and a strong leadership mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead accessibility QA initiatives across web and mobile applications
Ensure testing aligns with Section 508c and WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards
Review and oversee test plans, execution, and results for completeness and accuracy
Manage and update VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) documentation
Collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers to resolve accessibility concerns
Utilize tools and assistive technologies like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Axe, WAVE for testing
Provide training and mentorship to the QA team on accessibility best practices
Continuously enhance QA processes, tools, and test coverage
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives
Required Skills & Qualifications
12+ years of overall QA experience
Minimum 5 years in QA roles with at least 2 years in a leadership position
Expertise in Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and related accessibility guidelines
Strong hands-on experience testing web and mobile platforms for accessibility compliance
Proven experience creating and managing VPATs and accessibility audit documentation
Proficiency with tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple testing projects across a dynamic product suite
Nice to Have
ISTQB, CPACC, or WAS certifications
Experience with automation tools like Selenium or Cypress
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Knowledge of Jira, TestRail, or other test management platforms
