Remote Accounting Supervisor

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead our accounting team in Guatemala. This role requires strong accounting expertise, fluent English, and advanced Excel skills. As the supervisor, you will oversee clerical accounting staff, manage reporting to our U.S.-based accounting team, and handle complex financial tasks such as data mining, expense allocations, journal entries, and month-end analysis. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and general ledger management.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support the clerical accounting team in daily operations and ensure data accuracy.
Report directly to our U.S.-based accounting team, coordinating data, insights, and financial updates.
Create and manage complex Excel spreadsheets to consolidate data from multiple sources, utilizing advanced functions (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, Pivot Tables).
Perform detailed data analysis and generate journal entries, including allocations of expenses, driver pay calculations, and toll distributions.
Conduct month-end general ledger reviews, analyze accounts, and make adjustments as needed.
Develop depreciation schedules for fixed assets and manage other recurring accounting tasks.
Ensure compliance with accrual accounting principles, subsidiary accounting, and U.S. GAAP standards.
Extract and consolidate data across various systems to produce accurate, final financial reports.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Science of Accounting or a related field.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role with general ledger management, preferably US experience.
Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, Pivot Tables).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with data mining and consolidation of data from multiple sources.
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accrual accounting practices.
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities to manage a team effectively.
