Job Description
Job Summary
Landscape Engineer will be responsible for the supervision of Hardscape and Softscape.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervising with contractors on all aspects of Hardscape and Softscape construction.
Hardscape, including exterior stonework (paving of roadways, pedestrian walkways and parking lots), cladding, GRC-artificial rockwork, wood decking, site furnishings (including kids play equipment, outdoor sports courts), natural rock grouping, grading works, landscape lighting, irrigation.
Softscape, including plant material inspection (on site, at local nurseries and over-seas), on-site planting and associated landscape elements [soil mixing, levelling and capillary movement (drainage)].
Review and approval of shop drawings, materials samples, mock-ups etc. in connection with hardscape and softscape.
Onsite design modifications and implementation of additional Clients’ requests.
Participating in the preparation of periodical progress report; Correspondence with Client, Project Managers and Contractors.
Co-ordinating and liaising with other sections of the Municipality and Gardens Directorate (workshop, nurseries, transportation department, etc…), Contractors and other Third Parties as necessary for the progress of works.
Work proactively to resolve any problems or site issues as they occur in connection with hardscape and softscape.
Ensure that all resources of materials, manpower, and plant and equipment are available at all sites in a timely manner for proper progress of landscaping works.
Ensure that work at all sites is proceeding according to program and to the required standards, in accordance with approved designs and instructions issued.
Follow up the progress of all ongoing site work on a frequent basis to ensure timely and proper completion of site work.
Supervise the preparation of landscaping as-built drawings.
Qualifications
Qualification
Bachelor Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and a qualification from a graduate/post-graduate level programme of study in landscape architecture accredited by the following
UK: Landscape Institute (LI) UK US: Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Board (CLARB) Italy: Association of Landscape Architecture (AIAPP) Australia: The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Canada: State Landscape Architecture Licensing Authority
Qualifications should meet the criteria to register as Landscape Architect Category A with CRPEP in Bahrain
Specific skills required
Computer literacy, proficiency in Autocad and good communication skills are a must.
Experience
Minimum twelve (12) years of relevant experience in the construction and supervision of Landscape/Hardscape. Familiarity with the Gulf Region plant species, shrubs and other softscape features is a must. CRPEP category A preferred but not essential
