As a Sr Info Security Engineer, you’ll be a part of the Team responsible for building the next Generation of cybersecurity solutions. You’ll play a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying systems that prevent threats, scale with cloud infrastructure, and redefine how security works at an Enterprise level.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as the functional subject matter expert for the Palo Alto NexGen firewall

Serve as a technical lead for all Palo Alto firewall deployments – validating BOM, physical connectivity requirements, Firewall configuration leveraging NextGen Firewall capabilities

Work with the Business and various other stakeholders to drive transformation/ Integration projects towards successful completion

Ensure the Security posture of the Integrated entity is in line with Optum’s Security guidelines

Determine the severity and complexity of issues pertaining to the security and protection of systems data, (either alone or as part of a team) to ensure the protection, conservation and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data

Monitor and respond to security incidents. Collaborate with Cyber Defense Security to ensure prompt and effective resolution

Apply the most up-to-date code versions for the Palo Alto Firewall sensors

Assist Cyber Defense Security in the determination and establishment of War Rooms, managing and monitoring War Room activities; assist with escalations to the Vendor

Collaborate with Director, Managers, Project Managers, Architects, and other individuals to ensure a seamless roll out of Security Integrations projects

Promote continued integration of technological advances to further enhance security and reduce risks

Mentor and coach cyber security analysts, providing guidance and expertise in incident/issue response and resolution methodology

Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies from application to enterprise

Promote the development of innovative approaches and solutions to complex problems and issues

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining Next Gen firewall solutions including policy design and implementation

5+ years of experience evaluating and designing firewall solutions for technology projects

Experience with scripting with RESTful APIs, especially with parsing returned data (XML or JSON)

Work experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer

Familiarity with cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Proven solid planning and problem-solving skills

Proven ability to troubleshoot in highly complex, technical situations within a matrixed organization

Proven ability to identify and mitigate security issues/incidents

Proven ability to document and communicate at an expert level

Preferred Qualifications:

PCNSE Certification

Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with Routing & Switching

Experience with AI/ML applied to Security

Scripting experience (Python preferred)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
