As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, practical legal advice across a diverse portfolio, while also contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction and legal capability.
You’ll provide expert legal support across the organisation, advising on a wide range of matters including:
Commercial contracts and procurement
Property dealings
Legal compliance and risk management
Dispute resolution and regulatory matters
General corporate and business operations
Privacy, statutory interpretation, and public sector obligations.
You’ll also help build internal legal awareness, influence decision-making at senior levels, and foster strong working relationships across business units.

About you:
We are looking for a commercially astute, solutions-focused lawyer with:
7+ years PQE experience
A current New Zealand Practising Certificate + Admission as Barrister & Solicitor in New Zealand.
Experience across commercial law, contract management, and regulatory compliance
In-house or public sector experience
A proactive mindset and a passion for contributing to your community.
Flexible working and location:
My client is open to remote or hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate. While the ideal location is in Hawke’s Bay, the team is well-equipped to support remote staff and provides travel assistance/support.
