About Action Against Hunger:
Action Against Hunger/Action Contre La Faim (AAH/ACF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was created in France in1979. AAH/ACF has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.AAH/ACF improved access to health and nutrition services for the most vulnerable people, who live in remote areas without a local health system. In particular, the country team supported pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five, who are at greater risk of malnutrition. Nutrition programs rely on an integrated approach, addressing both primary and underlying causes, inorder to have a lasting impact on nutritional status. The country team worked at community level, in villages and at provincial level,strengthening the public health system. It also worked at national level to ensure reliable information about the nutritional situation reached the wider humanitarian community. Covid-19 prevention was integrated into all interventions and additional responseactivities were implemented, such as the disinfection of health facilities and public places, cash assistance, psychosocial support andthe distribution of hygiene kits to affected populations.
Job Description:
Goal
Provide Maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN) and MHSSP counseling services for the SHC MIYCN target clients which comprise caregivers so under two years of children, pregnant, and lactating women. And, providing technical assistance on health education sessions conducted in SHC, and mother-to-mother support groups conducted in the community.
Responsibilities:
Objective 1: Ensuring the provision of MIYCN and MHPSS counseling services for the SHC MIYCN target clients that include caregivers so under two years of children, pregnant, and lactating women:

Helps to identify needs for breastfeeding counseling and provide adequate counseling

Facilitates sessions on nutrition health and hygiene good practices for pregnant and lactating women and caregivers of malnourished children attending the IYCF-E at the Health Sub Center- HSC.

Providing individual To train community outreach officers and volunteers on best practices for infant and young child feeding

Conducting group sessions on MIYCF topics at the HSCs s

Referring children and PLWs for required nutritional/medical care within the HSC

Prepare daily/weekly reports on activities and any necessary reports as requested by the HSC Supervisor

Conduct psychoeducation and child care practices awareness sessions for beneficiaries and identify appropriate IEC materials and ensure the use of it during each session

Provide 1:1/ group psychosocial support (PSS) and psychological first aid (PFA) for beneficiaries in psychosocial distress

Register clients and fill in the logbook; MHPSS register, and carry out initial assessments & screenings using validated tools, and fill out client forms/tools/ tools during and after sessions

Objective 2: Provide technical support for community outreach officers, and community health workers on MIYCN and MHPSS counseling services at the community level.

Facilitate the scheduling of outreach workers/volunteers for follow-up of caregivers of children with breastfeeding difficulties at home.

Identify mothers to become peer educators in their home villages and to support them to undertake sensitization and referral to the HSC

To train community outreach officers and volunteers on best practices for infant and young child feeding.

Responsible for MIYCN program activities record keeping and reporting

Objective 3: Represent ACF

The professional image of his/her ACF program

Respect for the principles and values of ACF in the framework of the partnership

Respect the ACF charter

Explain to stakeholders and to populations the activities and the objectives of the programs;

Objective 4: any other tasks which may be given by the Supervisor

Support other team members with basic HSC tasks (screening, registration of patients, crowd control, health education etc. …)

Support team in ensuring timely and high-quality reports

Job Requirements:
Background/qualifications

Completed higher secondary level education with at least 2 years of experience in the field of health and nutrition.

Previous experiences working in nutrition activities (MHTs, TFUs)

Patience, good relations with other people, good capacity to work in a team, precision, and under stressful situations.

Ability to manage staff according to local culture

Fluent in Dari, Pashto some English knowledge

High flexibility on the location area

Good team management and positive attitude
