We’re looking to hire a Staff Technical Lead for the Predictive AI domain. The Predictive AI Backend team is part of the AI Platform Group and will work closely with the Predictive AI Models team and our product partners. The Predictive AI BE team is a newly formed team whose initial focus will be on breaking down data barriers to enable the AI Platform group to serve new predictive models at scale. The role requires significant cross-team collaboration to identify the right data sources, develop a new predictive engine and support future predictive platform use cases.

Staff Technical Leads are highly productive, impactful, and trusted engineers who leverage their skills and knowledge to work autonomously on the most complex projects and set technical direction. Very complex problems can include those that are very broad, very deep, or problems that require spanning across many teams.

As a Staff Technical Lead, you will:

Work in a hands-on software engineering position leading the Predictive AI BE team

Write and ship production code that has meaningful user and business impact

Envision, build and analyse new features and tools, each contributing to company growth and revenue

Work with a small cross-functional team of engineers, PMs, designers, content designers, and researchers

Collaborate with HubSpotters all over the company, whether in engineering, product, design, research, marketing, sales, etc

Help HubSpot users meet their goals, via changes you’ve made

Implement experiments that give us valuable insights into user behaviour and how to improve their experience

Get exposure to how HubSpot works as a business

We’re not just looking for engineers with many years of experience. Instead we’re looking for engineers who also have a track record of unique excellence, leadership, and levelling up those around them.

We are looking for someone to be hands-on. We are not necessarily looking for the typical Architect role, which tends to be less hands-on. That being said, we would be also interested in someone coming from an architectural background as long as they are looking to be more hands-on.

We are looking for someone with demonstrated leadership capability. Good candidates will often have had some time as managers, but their passion is more in technology.

You may be a fit if:

You enjoy problem solving and working across a broad set of technologies. We work primarily with Java but experience with specific technologies is secondary to strong programming fundamentals

You have a strong focus on the user. You can gain empathy for their challenges and understand how they may flow through our product

You not only get excited about big, technical challenges but also about being very close to the business and our go-to-market strategies

You have or are interested in developing data analysis skills. You’re not afraid to dive into Amplitude, Looker, Excel, or other data analysis tools and collaborate with our ops and analytics teams

You are willing to be challenged by solving complex cross-team problem & opportunities, helping set the direction of the group

You are interested in becoming a master of the experimentation process and A/B tests

You have developed or are interested in developing data pipelines for machine learning applications

We know the and can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply – we’d love to hear from you.
