The Strategic Account Executive is responsible for client growth / retention and client satisfaction, renewal of existing contracts and up-selling of appropriate services to clients. The Strategic Account Executive manages ongoing client relationships for an assigned book of business and serves as a client-centric, client-facing resource and lead point of contact. The Strategic Account Executive represents clients internally as an advocate and coordinates with other functional areas within the company to support the implementation of client initiatives, complete projects and address strategic needs. This individual may also work closely with sales on prospective clients and RFP responses.

Primary Responsibilities:
Act as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact (not call center) and large or complex accounts
Management of book of business
Serve as a lead point of contact for all client account management matters
Secure renewal and upselling programs * Implement and adhere to client contract / amendments
Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet yearly goals
Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed
Build relationships with clients (not individual members) and partners with an Optum Rx Account Manager for overall and day-to-day
Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
Serves as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions
Performs complex conceptual analyses and provides explanations and information to others
Lead or contribute to the development of program or project scope statements, in consultation with applicable stakeholders
Ensure alignment and understanding of program/project scope and objectives with the organization’s strategic objectives with the account management team and applicable stakeholders
Raise awareness of any misalignment or misunderstanding of project scope and objectives with applicable stakeholders
Ensure that all impacted areas are identified, and that appropriate resources are engaged to participate in the scope definition process
Monitor scope requirements and identify scope-related gaps and issues
Demonstrates expertise in pharmacy benefit strategies and OptumRx programs
Demonstrates a high degree of client focus and attention to service
Forecasts and plans resource requirements
May lead functional or segment teams or projects
Motivates and inspires other team members
Lead Quarterly Trend Reporting associated activities with an understanding of data, performance trends, and financials
Ability to develop, negotiate, analyze, interpret, and implement SOPs and reporting
Recognizes cost avoidance opportunities and offers solutions
Manage 1/1 readiness activities: progress reports

Required Qualifications:
2+ years of relationship management experience
Experience reading, interpreting and negotiating contract terms
Client-facing presentation experience
Proven experience developing written content for executive summaries
Advanced understanding of the PBM/pharmacy industry
Proven ability to accommodate east coast time zone business needs
Proven solid oral and written communication
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of PBM relationship management experience
Experience managing national and/or strategic accounts preferably within health plans
RxClaim experience
Experience interpreting financial data
Experience working cross-functionally within a matrix environment
Experience with new client implementations
Proven to exhibit leadership through influencing without authority
Proven Business Acumen
Proven solid negotiation skills
Proven comfortable with ambiguity
Proven ability to prioritize among competing tasks
Proven ability to work in self-motivated environment with limited supervision
Proven keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
