Primary Accountabilities:

The Architecture and Engineering team has overall responsibility for Enterprise Architecture for our retained client that encompasses Enterprise, Application, Data/Information, Technology and Security Architectures. It is also responsible for specific architecture and engineering engagements in support of business development, project delivery and ongoing operations, as well as providing ongoing architectural support to all our retained client’s business units and clients.

As a key member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Infrastructure Architect will lead the creation of new solutions and services and the Infrastructure Architect that will provide technical thought leadership across multiple business units, and enables and accelerates technology roadmaps and transformation plans via the provision of innovative and strategic vision and ideas. Some of the key responsibilities of the Infrastructure Architect will entail:

1. Working with key customers to develop business requirements
2. Collaborate with various groups, the customer, and other vendors to build solution components
3. Support the development of cost models, including project, ongoing operations and capital costs
4. Develop and document solutions and services in various forms, including: Briefing Notes, Solution Designs, Service Descriptions, Change Orders, Customer Sales Presentations, Solution Designs and User Guides
5. Provide strategic business and technology consulting to enable effective decision making on information technology investments
6. Apply industry and information technology expertise to conduct feasibility studies, develop proposals, and design solutions in support of existing services and business growth
7. Work collaboratively with internal and external governance boards to ensure architecture is aligned with business requirements and enterprise standards

ACCOUNTABILITIES/DELIVERABLES

Provides leadership, consulting, and strategic direction to various project teams as well as the company and its clients

Provides leadership in the evolution of the company’s long- term strategic technology direction

Provides pre-sales solution expertise including the development of complex new solutions and services to meet customer requirements

Provides service consulting to support customer services

Provides effort and cost estimates for capital and labour to assist with pricing of solutions and services

Delivers customer presentations on services and technical solutions

Provides architectural guidance and oversight to ensure that solutions are scalable, secure, available, and operationally sound

Develops solution prototyping and proof of concepts to validate overall solution fit to customer

requirements

Maintains awareness of industry trends and provides regular briefing updates to customers and management

Facilitates collaboration and workshops with customers

Works with internal and external partners to provide innovative solutions to business problems

Performs other related duties as required, including working with leadership to assist with financial planning and management, assisting in the preparation of documents in support of procurement of goods and services, and representing Infrastructure Services at advisory and user group meetings as well as various committees and boards

Education & Experience:

Education:

Degree in Computer Science

7+ years of Infrastructure Architecture experience

Experience:

Experience in developing large-scale enterprise business solutions in a multi-platform environment

Experience with architecture design concepts and techniques and the ability to communicate and

evangelize those concepts to a broad based team

Experience in creating and managing the creation of infrastructure solutions and concepts for enterprise customers

Experience managing and leading virtual, cross-functional teams, including defining requirements, developing designs and project plans, and delivering results

Nice to Have Technical Skills:

Networking in a data centre

VMWare data center virtualization

Azure and AWS hybrid architecture setup

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Architecture process and frameworks

Knowledge of the principles, practices and tools of project management

Act as an advocate for ensuring that the infrastructure architecture aligns with the overall enterprise architecture goals

Working with other IT groups, develop and maintain an infrastructure roadmap that provides reduced overall complexity and increased cost efficiency

Provide leadership and direction through technical subject matter expertise

Ability to communicate concisely, both verbal and written, at a level consistent with the audience’s level of understanding
